Global Management Meeting at Sumitomo Riko
On July 14, our group company Sumitomo Riko held their Global Management Meeting in Nagoya. This meeting is a forum for disseminating policies and key priorities throughout the Sumitomo Riko Group, and as such it was attended by managing directors and other executives from 12 countries in the Americas, Europe, and Asia. I was one of 177 attendees, and it was my first time to join this event.
In the meeting, representatives from many divisions reported on their activities and initiatives in support of the 2029 Sumitomo Riko Group Vision and its corresponding 2029 Sumitomo Riko Group Mid-term Management Plan. Among these reports was a case study about a manufacturing subsidiary in India that had improved their productivity by collaborating with sites in Thailand and Indonesia. It was heartening to hear that such global coordination is taking place.
Sumitomo Riko became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sumitomo Electric this past February. As a combined entity, we are committed to finding synergies that will improve our overall capabilities. I expect this to involve the strengthening of administrative functions and other management fundamentals, greater collaboration in research & development, and an enhanced ability to propose solutions to customers, particularly those in the mobility sector.
