Executive Conference in China
On November 24 and 25, I was in Suzhou to attend the Sumitomo Electric Executive Conference in China. The conference was held as an in-person event for the first time in four years and was attended by approximately 150 people.
Among the highlights of the conference were reports from five committees working in the region, including a committee on brand strategy and the monozukuri (manufacturing) committee. While the level of activity differs from committee to committee, all committee members are clearly putting an effort into their activities and are doing so in addition to their regular work duties. In another part of the conference, I had the chance to participate in panel discussions about our business in China and the development of future company leaders.
While I was in Suzhou, I also had the pleasure of visiting the manufacturing plants of two Sumitomo Electric Group companies in the area. It’s always meaningful to be able to see such operations myself, learn about site improvements, and give encouragement directly to the people working there.
