Meeting with the Ambassador of Tunisia
On October 24th, the Ambassador of the Republic of Tunisia to Japan, Mr. Ahmed Chafra, visited our company for a meeting.
I took two trips to Tunisia when I was president of a German automotive wiring harness company from 2009 to 2012. During that time, we started a temporary factory in Tunisia with around 50 to 100 employees. Today, our operations in there have grown to three manufacturing sites with approximately 7,000 employees. Ambassador Chafra thanked us for our investments in Tunisia and our efforts in job creation.
North Africa is an important region as a manufacturing base for automotive wiring harnesses for the European market, and so we are currently planning to establish a fourth manufacturing site in Tunisia.
The meeting with Ambassador Chafra was an opportunity for us to express our gratitude to the Embassy of Tunisia for their cooperation in securing a location for the new factory. Looking ahead to future jobs in Tunisia and employee training there, we hope for further support from their government.
In addition, the meeting was an opportunity to reaffirm the bond that has been cultivated between Tunisia and our company. We will continue to strengthen this relationship and cooperate hand in hand for our mutual development.
