Volleyball Champions from Itami Works
We recently welcomed members from the Itami Works volleyball team to hear about their victory last November in the 95th All-Japan 9-man Volleyball Championship. The team’s manager, coaches, captain, and other personnel came to headquarters to give a report on their achievement.
It was the team’s first time to win this tournament, which has a long history dating back to 1927. Over the past few years, the Itami Works team had steadily grown stronger thanks to the arrival of several talented players. Each person participates in the team’s practices in addition to performing his daily duties, and I am very proud of how everyone’s commitment led to such an excellent result.
In the final of the tournament, the Itami Works team went up against our team from Osaka Works, a three-time champion. From a spectator’s perspective, of course this was a bit complicated. But what I can say unequivocally is that I hope both teams will continue elevating each other to new heights.
The Itami Works team's victory was a great encouragement, not only for the team but for the entire plant as well. In October, there will be a top league competition at the Sumitomo Sogo Ground, a multi-building sports complex near Itami Works. I hope the team does well there, and I look forward to another cheerful report from them.
