The 151st Ordinary General Meeting of Shareholders
The Ordinary General Meeting of Shareholders was held in Osaka on June 25, 2021. To prevent the spread of COVID-19 infection, we requested the shareholders to exercise their voting rights in advance, and the meeting was live-streamed online. Consequently, the number of attendees was a little more than 50, far smaller than previous years. I sincerely appreciate the understanding and cooperation of our shareholders.
At the meeting, following the business report and the audit report, we gave an explanation on our initiatives to realize a decarbonized society. We have been discussing how we can achieve net-zero CO2 emissions by 2050. Toward this goal, first, we aim to reduce CO2 emissions to the level required by the Paris Agreement by 2030. To be more specific, our targets are 30% CO2 reduction in manufacturing and other in-house processes and 15% CO2 reduction in external procurement and use of our products outside the Company compared to FY2018. After explaining these, we referred to our acquisition of Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) certification for these targets for FY2030 in April this year.
In the Q&A session, we received some questions and opinions on our initiatives related to energy policies. In response, we expressed our intention to contribute to solving social issues through the provision of products that meet social needs, such as automotive electrification and increased use of renewable energy, in addition to promoting our efforts to reduce CO2 emissions.
The attending shareholders gave us six opinions and questions in total, including words of support to the Company, and then approved the matters to be resolved.
Although some concerns are lingering, including the COVID-19 pandemic and the supply shortage of semiconductors, we will take on challenges with a fresh mind to meet the expectations of shareholders and other stakeholders.
