2023 Annual Meeting with Important Business Partners
On June 7th, we had our annual meeting with important business partners for the Social Infrastructure Sales & Marketing Unit and the Electronics Sales Unit. The event was held at the Happo-en venue in Tokyo and, for the first time in five years, included an exhibition of a variety of Sumitomo Electric products. More than 80 people and 38 partner companies attended the event.
In terms of information sharing, I spoke about Sumitomo Electric’s approach to multistakeholder capitalism, which we call “Goho-yoshi” (Five-Way Win). I also provided an overview of this fiscal year’s plan of activities, which was supplemented by the general managers of the two sales units and their talks on specific sales-related matters.
Overall, the event was a great opportunity for me to speak with our many business partners, learn about their challenges and, most importantly, to express my sincere gratitude to them for their support and daily efforts. This year we recognized four companies in particular for achieving excellent results in fiscal year 2023. These companies are Kuniosa Metals Co., Ltd.; Satori Electric Co., Ltd.; Fukoku Bussan Co., Ltd.; and Ryosan Co., Ltd. I had the honor of presenting representatives from each company with a letter of appreciation and commemorative gift.
We started the annual business partners meeting in 1983 as a conference for electrical wire distributors from all over Japan. The event has evolved since then, but its core purpose of building relationships with our business partners and mutually strengthening our sales capabilities has remained the same. This year, to celebrate the 40th edition of this important meeting and to wish everyone continued growth, we had a rousing performance of a kabuki dance called Renjishi (or Two Lions). I greatly appreciate everyone who made time in their busy schedules to attend this gathering.
