Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. (head office: Chuo-ku, Osaka, President: Osamu Inoue, hereafter "our company") has developed and launched the SUMIDIA™ Coat Endmill AVIX series for CFRP*¹ machining as of November 2024.

In the machining of CFRP parts, which are widely use in the aerospace industry, demands are on the rise not only for longer cutting tool life and reduced costs, but also for high-efficiency machining to improve productivity. In addition, the control standards for surface quality after machining are becoming stricter, leading to increased needs for cutting tools that achieve higher quality.

In response to these needs, our company has developed the SUMIDIA™ Coat Endmill AVIX series for CFRP machining that combines a cutting edge design and tool grade that enables high-quality machining even under high-efficiency conditions of CFRP machining. This product exhibits excellent wear resistance in CFRP machining, contributing to increased productivity and machining quality, in addition to longer tool life and reduced costs.

In addition, the combination of a sharp cutting edge and a revolutionary diamond coating with uniform thickness distribution contributes to higher quality and longer tool life.
