Development and Launch of New Coated Carbide Grade ACS1000 for Stainless Steel/Exotic Alloy Milling and Expansion of Applicable Cutters/Drills using ACS2500/ACS3000 Grades
Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. (headquarters: Chuo-ku, Osaka, President: Osamu Inoue, hereafter "our company") has developed a new coated carbide grade ACS1000, ideal for milling of stainless steel and exotic alloys, and has also expanded the lineup of applicable cutters and drills using ACS2500/ACS3000 grades, to be launched sequentially from December 2024.
In recent years, demand for tools with stable and long tool life has been increasing with the expansion of sectors that make heavy use of stainless steel and exotic alloys, such as semiconductors, gas and energy, and aviation industries etc.
In response to these needs, our company has developed the new coated carbide grade ACS1000, ideal for high-speed machining, as part of our new lineup of coated carbide grades for milling of stainless steel and exotic alloys, significantly contributing to improved productivity and reduced machining costs. In addition, we have expanded the lineup of applicable cutters and drills using ACS2500/ACS3000 grades to support a wider range of machining applications.
1. Features
Utilizing our proprietary PVD* Absotech™ coating technology, with an ultra-fine coating structure, to ACS1000/ACS2500/ACS3000, balances high strength and high toughness to realize excellent stability and longer tool life in the milling of stainless steel and exotic alloys.
In addition, the new ACS1000 grade uses a carbide substrate with excellent wear resistance to achieve longer tool life in high-speed machining.
