San Jose, CA – March 3, 2023 - Sumitomo Electric Device Innovations, Inc. (SEDI) will be participating in the upcoming OFC exhibition from March 7 to 9 at the San Diego Convention Center. At booth 6517, SEDI will showcase short-reach datacom optics for intra-datacenter (DC) connections, coherent WDM optics for inter-DC links, and low-power pluggable coherent optics for future upgrades. Recently introduced products include:
・　112 GBd electro-absorption modulated laser (EML): The SEDI EML enables next-generation transceiver modules for upgrade paths to 800 Gb, 1.6 Tb, and 3.2 Tb communication. It demonstrates 224 Gbit/s PAM4 modulation waveform with Keysight’s M8100 series Arbitrary Waveform Generator (AWG). The EML is cost-effective for high-speed optical lanes and meets the requirements of high-speed networks.

・High-power continuous wave laser diode: SEDI demonstrates a high-power, high-efficiency CW laser with integrated semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) that is suitable for an external laser small form-factor pluggable (ELSFP) module in a co-packaged optics (CPO-based) system.

・High-power tunable laser: The next-generation tunable laser offers improved phase noise, increased output power, and expanded tuning range to 120 channels. The Sumitomo Electric Group continues to lead in innovation and technology to contribute to lower costs, longer reach, and higher performance for next-generation communications equipment.
