Soft Magnetic Powder Core for Reactors (mass production)

A Soft Magnetic Powder Core is formed by pressing together Soft Magnetic Composite (SMC) materials which are insulation-coated magnetic particles. These particles are not metallically bonded to each other, and the insulating coating on the surface of the particles structurally increases their electrical resistance. Cores formed this way exhibit excellent AC magnetic properties, especially in the high frequency range of 1 kHz or higher.
In addition, the application of near-net-shape compacting and the use of SMC materials, which have three-dimensional isotropic magnetic properties, enables the design and manufacture of magnetic components with three-dimensional magnetic circuits.

Proposed applications : Automobile booster/pressure regulator, consumer booster

The Soft Magnetic Core(SMC) is superior to an electrical magnetic laminated sheet core with regard to its high frequency characteristics. SMC contribute to the miniaturization and weight reduction of reactors.
