Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. will exhibit its product, Celmet™ Porous Metal, at the "Hydrogen + Fuel Cells EUROPE" exhibition, part of the world's largest industrial trade fair, Hannover Messe, in Hannover, Germany, from March 31 (Monday) to April 4 (Friday), 2025.

Hydrogen + Fuel Cells EUROPE is Europe's leading exhibition for hydrogen and fuel cell technologies, featuring 300 exhibitors from all over the world who presented their latest technologies and products in 2024.

Our Celmet™ Porous Metal is a porous metal material with a three-dimensional mesh structure framework. Compared to commonly used porous materials made from sintered metal powder or metal fibers, it boasts superior flexibility (elasticity) and high porosity of up to 98%. The pore diameter can be adjusted in eight increments from 0.45 to 3.2 mm, and it can be cut or pressed into various shapes. These features enhance the filling capacity of active materials and current collection performance, making it a current collector in nickel-metal hydride batteries for hybrid vehicles, thereby contributing to the reduction of environmental impact.

Furthermore, it is anticipated to be utilized as an electrode and constituent material in water electrolyzers and solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs), which are essential for realizing a hydrogen society. This will also contribute to the promotion of a decarbonized society and carbon neutrality.

At our booth, we will showcase our product, Celmet™ Porous Metal, for anion exchange membrane (AEM) type water electrolyzers, which has been newly developed and features a smoother surface than conventional products. Visitors will have the opportunity to experience its lightweight, high porosity, and customizable pore sizes tailored to their needs. We look forward to seeing you at our booth.
