Two New Types of Internal Grooving Tools from SEC-Grooving Tools SSH series Launched for Sale
Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. (Head office: Chuo-ku, Osaka, President: Osamu Inoue; below, "our company") has expanded the SEC-Grooving Tools SSH series with the SSHF type holders and inserts for internal face grooving, and SSHT type inserts for internal threading, launched for sale as of October 2024.
Internal grooving is widely used in the automotive industry and for various other machine parts. In particular, chip evacuation is more difficult in internal grooving of small parts than other general machining and low rigidity of the holder may lead to tool vibration during machining, causing problems such as worsened machined surface roughness.
In response to these issues, our company's SEC-Grooving Tools SSH series has exhibited stable machining even in small internal diameters, thanks to its excellent chip evacuation design and high rigidity tough carbide body.
To meet the needs for internal face grooving and thread cutting applications, our company has released two new product lines for the SEC-Grooving Tools SSH series.

Features | (1) Groove Depth 3mm, Min Bore Dia. ø14mm available. (2) Excellent chip evacuation performance The chipbreaker*1 shape design, with consideration for small internal diameter grooving, controls the shape and flow direction of the chips generated during machining to achieve excellent chip evacuation. Furthermore, when combined with an internal face grooving holder which has a dedicated coolant outlet, chip evacuation is improved with the effective supply of coolant to the cutting edge. (3) Tough carbide body suppresses vibration during machining In addition to the conventional carbide body, the internal face grooving holder has a thicker neck which greatly reduces vibration during machining and achieves high-quality machined surfaces. (4) Maintains excellent cutting edge sharpness for a long time The combination of a sharp cutting edge design and a smooth, high-adhesion coating layer maintains excellent cutting edge sharpness for a long time, suppressing tearing*2 on the machined surface from initial tool use to replacement and thus realising outstanding machined surface quality. |
