Lynx-CustomFit™ Splice-On Connectors have been awarded by 2025 Lightwave+BTR Innovation Reviews
Sumitomo Electric Lightwave Corporation, a group company of Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd., announced that it was named an honoree in the 2025 Lightwave+BTR Innovation Reviews for Lynx-CustomFit™ Splice-On Connectors.*1 Lynx-CustomFit™ was recognized as an innovative product that excels in both error-free assembly and reliability, earning the highest score in the Optical Components category. On March 31st, an awards ceremony took place at OFC, the largest global conference and exhibition for optical communications and networking professionals, where certificates were presented.
Lightwave+BTR is a U.S. media outlet covering optical communications and broadband technology. Its annual Innovation Reviews recognizes outstanding innovations in technologies and products. A panel of judges evaluated entries for originality, innovation, positive impact on the customer, how well they addressed a new or existing requirement, and cost-effectiveness. Entries were rated on a scale of 1.0 to 5.0, with Lynx-CustomFit™ receiving a 4.5 in the Optical Components category.
The newest Lynx-CustomFit™ was developed with the concept of a "high-quality optical fiber connector that ensures superior quality, even for first-time users."
The main features of the newest Lynx-CustomFit™ are as follows:
(1) Error-free assembly
Lynx-CustomFit™ reduce errors and enable quick assembly by consolidating up to 8 components into 3, preventing mistakes in orientation, operation sequence, and part placement.
(2) Flexible Path
In the process of protecting the delicate optical fiber with a protection sleeve, our unique mechanism prevents air bubbles from remaining inside the sleeve and disperses/relieves the stress applied to the optical fiber. The Flexible Path reduces stress on the fiber, preventing optical loss increases and breakages in field assembly.
(3) Ready-to-splice stub setup
The packaging has been designed with attention to detail, ensuring that even the delicate exposed glass portions of the optical fiber can be safely set into the fusion splicer in the cleanest of states.

*1 Splice-On Connectors are optical connectors that can be terminated with optical cables after installation with a fusion splicer, and are used for rapid optical network construction.
