Sumitomo Electric Supports 47th WorldSkills Competition in Lyon, France as Silver Sponsor
Sumitomo Electric Industries, Ltd. has been selected as a Silver Sponsor of the 47th WorldSkills Competition to be held in Lyon, France from September 10 to 15, 2024.
The WorldSkills Competition is a prestigious international event that showcases the skills of young professionals from around the world. Held every two years, the competition brings together representative athletes from various countries and regions to compete and demonstrate their refined skills, with the aim of fostering professional development, transmitting skills, and promoting international exchange.
Sumitomo Electric became an official sponsor of the competition with the 2013 event in Leipzig, Germany, and has continued its sponsorship for the five following consecutive competitions.*¹
As a Silver Sponsor for this event, Sumitomo Electric will provide optical equipment products, including optical fiber fusion splicers and optical wiring materials, for the 'Information Network Cabling' category.
To generate excitement for the Competition and to share the accomplishments of skilled tradespeople, Sumitomo Electric has released a video featuring interviews with Japanese representatives in the 'Information Network Cabling' category. The video provides insights into their daily training routines, their journey to becoming national representatives, and their enthusiasm for the upcoming competition.
In addition to providing high-quality products, Sumitomo Electric will continue to advance the dissemination of optical information wiring technology and contribute to the improvement of skills through technical support to other countries.
