Tomomi Sano

General Manager, R&D for Optical Communications

Since joining the company in 1990, Tomomi Sano has been engaged in the research and development of optical-fiber connectivity, optical components, multicore-fiber connectors, and high-density optical interconnect technologies. He received his Ph.D. in Engineering from Yamagata University in 2011 and was appointed to his current position in June 2026.
Outside work, he is an avid long-distance runner who participates in marathons, ultramarathons, and trail-running events.
